Francis Carlo Montesino

Francis Carlo Montesino has over 16 years of work experience in the cybersecurity industry. Francis Carlo is currently the Head of Labs at VMRay, a position they have held since January 2019.

Prior to that, they worked at G DATA Software, where they served as the Lead Automation Engineer in the Protection Technologies Group from October 2016 to December 2018. Before that, they held the position of Lead of Automation and Workflow Team in the Strategic Research and Development Department from April 2012 to October 2016.

From 2010 to 2012, Montesino worked at GFI Software as the Manager of Sample Collection, Processing, and Sharing. Francis Carlo also briefly served as the Manager of the Clearwater AV Lab Malware Processing Team from June to September 2010.

Before joining GFI Software, they worked at Sunbelt Software Philippines, Inc. as the AV Lab Team Lead from April 2009 to May 2010. Prior to that role, they were a Senior Malware/Threat Researcher from June 2008 to May 2010.

Montesino began their career at Trend Micro, where they held various roles from 2003 to 2008. This includes serving as a Threat Specialist/Escalation Engineer, Network Threats Research Engineer, Spyware Research Project Lead, and Antivirus Engineer. Francis Carlo also worked as an Anti-virus Training Instructor at TrendLabs University and as an Antivirus Engineer Trainee during their time at Trend Micro.

Francis Carlo Montesino obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan, where they studied from 1998 to 2002.

In terms of additional certifications, they completed "Cryptography I" from Coursera in March 2015. Francis Carlo also obtained the "MCSE1: Security on Windows 2000" certification from Microsoft in December 2005. Most recently, in January 2021, they earned the "Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)" certification from (ISC)².
