Deon W. Vigilance

Dr. Deon W. Vigilance specializes in Cardiothoracic Surgery and has specialties in adult cardiac surgery, atrial fibrillation ablation, minimally invasive cardiac surgery and valve surgery.

He has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards for his work in these fields. Dr. Vigilance received his Bachelor of Science (Cum Laude) in Biology from Morehouse College in Atlanta.

He received his Doctor of Medicine from Pennsylvania State University, Milton S. Hershey College of Medicine, in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

He completed a general surgery internship and residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New Hyde Park, New York, where he was senior resident and chief resident. At Columbia University, New York Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Vigilance was a research fellow, and heart and lung organ procurement fellow.

In addition, he completed a cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.

His professional associations include the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Dr. Vigilance is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Vigilance obtained his MBA degree from Indiana University Kelley School of Business in August 2015.

During this recent educational experience, Dr. Vigilance has acquired significant insights regarding the business of medicine and has particular interest in medical technology and population health management.
