Hugo Torres has a diverse work experience, starting as a Tutor at the Summer Literacy Academy in 2013 and later becoming a Paraprofessional. Hugo also worked as a Program Coordinator at Community Based Learning, where they tracked service hours and monitored student success. In 2017, they became a Community Schools Lead Instructor at Family Focus, Inc, managing program activities. Hugo also served as a 5th Grade Student Teacher at Washington Elementary School, working closely with ESL students and collaborating with other teachers. From 2016 to 2017, they were the Executive Director of the Cicero Youth Commission, overseeing program sites, staff, and financial documents. In 2023, Hugo served as a Trustee at the San Mateo County Office of Education, approving policies and handling appeals. Hugo is currently working as a Principal at Voices College-Bound Language Academies, where they develop staff and creates a culture through curriculum, events, and parent involvement.

Hugo Torres, MNA, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies with K-9 Certification in Education and a minor in Business Administration from Dominican University, which they obtained in 2017. Hugo also completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Nonprofit Administration at the University of San Francisco, from 2022 to 2023. Additionally, they have obtained certifications such as the Certificate of Achievement in Student Teaching from Dominican University in 2016 and the Mandated Reporter certification from the Department of Children and Family Services in 2014.
