Senior Laboratory Manager, Scientist II at Volastra

Reka Letso has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Reka is currently working at Volastra Therapeutics as the Senior Laboratory Manager and Scientist II since January 2022. Before joining Volastra Therapeutics, Reka worked at Inzen Therapeutics as the Laboratory Operations Manager from October 2018 to May 2020. In this role, they managed daily laboratory and office operations, collaborated with various departments and vendors, and oversaw safety and compliance.

Reka also had a notable tenure at Columbia University in the City of New York. From February 2015 to September 2019, they served as the Laboratory and Grant Manager for the Yuste Lab and NeuroTechnology Center. Additionally, they worked as an Adjunct Associate Research Scientist in the Hunt Lab from March 2014 to February 2015, where they conducted research on exogenous protein expression levels in E. coli, resulting in a publication in Nature.

Earlier in their career, Reka was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Columbia University from March 2011 to July 2012. Reka also completed their PhD in Biological Sciences from September 2004 to March 2011, during which they developed a high-throughput screen for identifying small molecules that upregulate the Survival of Motor Neuron (SMN) protein in patient fibroblast cells. Reka'sresearch findings on the role of the Ras protein in modifying SMN protein levels were published in ACS Chemical Biology.

Reka Letso completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Rutgers University between 2000 and 2004. Following that, they pursued further education at Columbia University from 2004 to 2010, earning a PhD in Chemical Biology.
