James Gillian

James Gillian is an experienced engineering professional specializing in safety management, reliability, and quality assurance across various industries, including aviation and oil & gas. Currently serving as Design Organization Safety Manager at Volocopter GmbH since April 2020, James is responsible for implementing Safety Management Systems to support eVTOL and UAS operations. Prior roles include Senior Safety and Reliability Engineer for the VoloCity project and Project Engineer at STAR ENGINEERING, where James focused on RAMS projects. With a background at Schlumberger spanning nearly 20 years, James held multiple positions from Reliability and V&V Engineer to Quality and Operations Support Manager, developing vital product lifecycle profiles and enhancing operational safety. Academically, James holds a Master's degree in Safety Engineering and Risk Management and a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry.
