Will McAllister has a diverse work experience in the field of research and data analysis. Will began their career as a Research and Development (R&D) Laboratory Assistant at Vortex in September 2020, where they worked until September 2021. During this time, they also served as an A level Chemistry Tutor at Cardiff & Vale Tutors from September 2020 to May 2021.
Will then joined Cardiff University as part of their Final Year Masters Project in September 2019. Will worked on a yearlong MChem research project focused on metal-free nitrogen activation using boranes. This project was supervised by Dr. Rebecca Melen and involved collaborating with a team of PhDs.
In July 2019, Will gained practical experience as a Summer Intern at Severn Trent. Their responsibilities included characterizing solid particulates in reservoir water using various techniques such as XRD, Raman, SEM, EDX, and NMR. Will successfully completed a 10-week internship and presented an 80-page report to the company, earning high praise.
Prior to these roles, Will worked as a Research Assistant at Monash University from September 2018 to June 2019. Under the guidance of Dr. Drasko Vidovic, they conducted research on aluminum-based Lewis acid catalysis.
Currently, Will is working at Vortex as an R&D Engineer and Data Analyst since July 2022.
Will McAllister completed their education in a chronological manner. Will attended Hitchin Boys' School from 2012 to 2014, where they obtained their GCSEs with exceptional results, including subjects such as Maths, English, and Science. Will continued their studies at the same institution from 2014 to 2016, completing their A-levels with outstanding grades in Chemistry, Biology, Geography, and an EPQ. Will then pursued a Masters of Chemistry degree at Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd, specializing in Chemistry with a year abroad. Will successfully completed their master's degree in 2020.
