John Oosthoek has a diverse and extensive work experience. John currently holds the position of VP Digital at VPS, where they are responsible for digital strategy, product development, marketing, sales, and business intelligence. Prior to this, they worked as a Start-up Mentor at PortXL, guiding start-ups on strategy, business development, and dealing with large corporations in the maritime industry. John also worked at Royal IHC, where they held various roles including Manager Digital Business Development, Business Development Manager, Application Manager CRM, Market & Business Intelligence Manager, and Management Trainee. During their time at Royal IHC, they were responsible for green-fielding the company's digital business unit, building ecosystems for digital operations and customer solutions, implementing the Oracle Sales Cloud CRM system, creating business intelligence reports, and analyzing offshore energy markets. John also worked as a Research Assistant at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, and as an Assistant Planner for Cofely GDF Suez, where they handled logistics, human resource management, and administrative tasks.

John Oosthoek attended Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University from 2007 to 2010, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in International Business Administration. John continued their education at the same university from 2010 to 2011, earning a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Strategic Management. Prior to their time at the university, John attended Johannes Calvijn from 2001 to 2007 and completed their VWO degree in Economy & Society. In addition, they obtained a certification in "What Is Generative AI?" from LinkedIn in July 2023.
