Katie Pinkson

Katie Pinkson is the Director of Engineering Operations at VSCO. Katie previously worked at Google as the Business Controller & Compliance Lead from November 2014 to May 2018.

Katie was responsible for scaled the controllership function from year-one launch, as Fi grew from a closed beta program to one of the largest mobile-phone service and hardware providers today. Katie managed month-end close, oversaw regulatory compliance (>2,500 filings a year), led go-to-market launch operations, and partnered with Engineering to build stronger billing systems.

During their time at Google, Katie received the Google Finance Renaissance Award, Finance’s highest recognition (<1% employees), which recognizes individuals who act as a trusted advisor, exemplify guardianship, and take innovative risks. Katie also led go-to-market launch operations for over 12 products and programs, setting up and testing new entities, product codes, GL accounts, and taxes to ensure proper accounting and checkout flow. Some of the key launches they were responsible for include: Nexus 6, Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL; Family Plan, Google Employee Plan; Device Financing, Device Warranty, Device Trade-In, Refer a Friend.

Katie also led the business to successfully achieve SOX compliance by mobilizing a four-month effort to identify process gaps, implement mitigating controls, and rearchitect billing system weaknesses. Additionally, they discovered $355M in overstated tax revenue and $8.7M in overpaid taxes after working with Engineering to automate a previously manual revenue reconciliation.

Katie Pinkson has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from UNH Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics. Katie also has a certification from Scrum Alliance in Certified Scrum Developer (CSD).
