George Awalla has extensive experience in leadership and programme management within the development sector, particularly with VSO. As Country Director from April 2016 to April 2022, George actively contributed to VSO's Global Leadership Team, coordinated programming in Kenya, and managed a country office team. In previous roles at VSO, including Programme Development & International Placements Manager and Head of Programmes, George focused on fundraising, programme strategy, and international placements, particularly related to HIV and AIDS initiatives. Currently serving as the Business Pursuit Lead for the Horn of Africa, George is responsible for securing strategic partnerships and funding to enhance VSO's impact in the region. Additionally, George serves as a board member for viwango, providing governance and oversight for certification processes. Academic qualifications include an MBA in Strategic Management & Administration from Newport International University and a Masters in Development Studies from Mount Kenya University, alongside a BSc in Agriculture and a Certificate in Secondary Education.
