Chris Rand has a diverse work experience starting with their role as a System Engineer at EoExchange in 2000. Chris then worked as a Sr. Systems Specialist at Nexcerpt from 2001 to 2002. From 2003 to 2006, they served as a System Engineer at CoreComm. Chris then joined Kalamazoo Public Safety as a Sr. Systems Analyst from 2006 to 2012. In 2012, they started their Freelance Consulting career and worked with various organizations, including Kalamazoo Township Police Department, Kalamazoo Township Fire Department, and Texas Township. In the same year, they also became the Director of Information Technology at Western Michigan University's College of Engineering & Applied Sciences, a position they held until 2023. Additionally, they volunteered at the Great Lakes Burn Camp from 2006 to 2019, serving on the Board of Directors as the Board Secretary and a member of the Policy and Fundraising committees. Chris also joined the Computer Science Advisory Committee at Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency in 2015. Chris'smost recent role was as an Instructor in the Department of Computer Science at Western Michigan University from 2020 to 2023. Currently, they serve as the Sr. Director of Technology at W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research, starting in 2023.
Chris Rand earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University, majoring in Computer Science with minors in Math and Criminal Justice. This was accomplished from the year 2000 to 2002. Chris furthered their education at the same institution, completing a Master of Science degree in Information Security - Computer Science from 2017 to 2019. Additionally, Chris pursued a Graduate Certificate Program in Information Security: Computer Information Systems at the Western Michigan University - Haworth College of Business from 2017 to 2018.
