Kathy Breyfogle has extensive experience in financial roles, with their most recent position being as CFO at the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research since 2020. Prior to that, they served as CFO at Residential Opportunities Inc. from 2012 to 2020 and at the Kalamazoo Regional Chamber of Commerce from 2007 to 2012. Kathy also worked as a Senior Financial Analyst at Archway & Mother's Cookie Company Inc. from 2002 to 2007. Kathy began their career at Gilmore Brothers, Inc. in 1987, where they held the position of Vice President of Finance. Kathy was responsible for managing corporate assets, directing teams, preparing budgets and financial statements, and overseeing the opening of new stores.

Kathy Breyfogle obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Business from Hope College, where they studied from 1979 to 1983. Following this, they pursued higher education at Western Michigan University - Haworth College of Business, earning their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Finance. Kathy attended this institution from 1988 to 1990.

The Upjohn Institute is an independent, nonpartisan nonprofit organization that provides research, practice and policy analysis on employment and unemployment issues. Our research focuses on labor market developments that threaten the livelihood and well-being of workers and the policies and programs designed to reduce those threats and mitigate hardships caused by job loss. We also house the Employment Management Services Division, the administrative entity for the local Workforce Development Board, administering all of the federal and state employment programs for southwest part of Michigan.
