Prior to their roles at GE, Artman served as the Manager of Selkirk Service Operations and Business Leader for Locomotive Platform Assembly and Fabrication at GE Transportation.

Alexander Artman earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University at Buffalo in 1996. Afterward, they pursued a Master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University from 1996 to 1998. During the same period, they also completed the GE Edison Engineering Program, consisting of four six-month rotation assignments in Mechanical Engineering at GE Transportation.
