Scientist Insect Resistance at Wageningen Plant Research

Lotte Caarls is a Scientist in Insect Resistance at Wageningen Plant Research since September 2020, focusing on developing plants with natural resistance to insect pests through advanced genetic characterization. Previously, Lotte served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Wageningen University & Research, investigating plant defenses against butterfly egg-laying, and at Utrecht University, where research centered on jasmonic acid hydroxylases. The academic foundation includes a Master of Science in Biological Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Amsterdam. Lotte has also gained international experience as a Visiting Researcher at VIB and as an intern at UC Davis and the University of Amsterdam.
