Arif Shanji

Arif Shanji has a significant amount of work experience in various technology and engineering roles. Arif currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer at Wahed, starting in April 2023. Prior to this, they worked as the Senior Vice President of Engineering at Wahed from November 2020 to May 2023.

Before joining Wahed, Arif Shanji held the position of Director of Engineering at Perkbox from July 2018 to November 2020. In this role, they headed the Engineering department at Perkbox, a leading employee engagement and benefits platform in the UK. Arif was responsible for managing the team and reported directly to the CEO.

From January 2017 to June 2018, Arif served as the Head of Engineering at Kano Computing. Arif led a team of Engineering Managers, Software Engineers, and QA Engineers for Kano Computing, a prominent consumer electronics company. Arif effectively took on responsibilities of a CTO and VP of Engineering and reported to the CEO.

Prior to their role at Kano Computing, Arif worked at Yahoo! from October 2009 to July 2015. Arif held the position of Senior Software Engineering Manager, heading up the Smart Ads cross-regional campaign engineering team for the US and EMEA regions. Arif also worked as a Software Engineer, contributing to full-stack development of Yahoo! Europe sites.

Arif's earlier experience includes roles at CMC Markets as a Senior Software Developer/Tech Lead from May 2007 to October 2009, and at Digital Look as a Lead Perl & MySQL Developer from June 2002 to April 2007. In these positions, they played a significant role in developing financial IT solutions, providing technical expertise, and collaborating with various stakeholders.

Arif Shanji pursued their first educational achievement in 2006 with the completion of the MySQL 5.0 Developer Certification program. Following this, from 2000 to 2003, they enrolled at King's College London, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Joint Hons, specializing in Mathematics & Computer Science.
