Karen Bartholomew

Public Health Medicine Specialist at Health New Zealand | Waitematā

Karen Bartholomew currently serves as the Director at Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand since May 2023. Karen has held multiple roles at Waitemata District Health Board, including Clinical Director of the Health Gain Team and Public Health Medicine Specialist, as well as Director of Health Outcomes for both Waitemata DHB and Auckland DHB since September 2016. Karen's experience includes serving as a Committee Member on the Health and Disability Ethics Committee since July 2013 and involvement with the Research Ethics Committee at Massey University from December 2009 to April 2015. Additionally, Karen worked as a Research Fellow at Growing Up in New Zealand, University of Auckland, from May 2010 to March 2013, and has held various positions in public health and medicine since 2003, including roles at the Ministry of Health NZ and Auckland Regional Public Health Service. Karen holds a Diploma of Public Health/Master of Public Health and degrees in Medicine from The University of Auckland.
