Emily Lucas

As Chief Financial Officer, Emily Lucas provides leadership to the County’s financial operations, including budget, finance, human resources, and long-term capital and debt planning. She ensures budgetary and fiscal accountability through the use of best practices and application of sound policies and procedures. She also serves as the County’s liaison to the Wake County Public School System financial and budgetary operations and works with WCPSS’s Joint Facilities Core Team.

Lucas joined Wake County in January 2016 as Deputy Finance Director.

A native of North Carolina, Lucas is a graduate of Meredith College, where she earned dual degrees in Accounting and Public History. She earned the designation of Certified Public Accountant in 2006. Prior to joining the County, she served as finance director for the towns of Garner and Zebulon.
