Melissa G. Ham, REHS, has extensive experience in environmental health, currently serving as an Environmental Senior Consultant and FDA Retail Program Standards Coordinator for Wake County since April 2022. Prior roles include Registered Environmental Health Specialist at Hoke County Health Department from January 2019 to March 2024, where focus shifted from field inspections to the management of Retail Program Standards. Melissa held the position of Regional Environmental Health Specialist with DHHS/DPH/EHSS/Food Protection and Facilities from September 2001 to January 2019, overseeing a 12-county territory. Previous experience includes working as REHS at Hoke County Health Department (1998-2001), Cumberland County Health Department (1991-1998), and Guilford County Health Department (1989-1991), as well as a Microbiology Technician at Pert Laboratories (1987-1989). Melissa earned a BS in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 1987.
