Eric Niesen

Eric Niesen currently serves as the Pitching Coach at Wake Forest University, a position held since July 2025. Prior to this role, Niesen was with the Houston Astros from March 2021 to July 2025, where responsibilities included Director of Pitching, Pitching Coordinator, and Milb Pitching Coach. Additionally, Niesen has experience as an Advisor for SportsTrace and as Director of Pitching at Premier Baseball KC. Niesen's coaching career began at Georgetown University as an Assistant Baseball Coach and Recruiter. Before transitioning to coaching, Niesen had a professional playing career in Minor League Baseball from 2007 to 2016 and played as a left-handed pitcher for teams including the Boston Red Sox, Long Island Ducks, and Seattle Mariners. Niesen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from Wake Forest University, where education was pursued from 2004 to 2017, and attended Huron High School from 2000 to 2004.
