Traci Ashley

Traci Ashley is the Senior Director of Communications at Wake Technical Community College. Traci has held this position since December 2019. Prior to that, they served as the Senior Director of College Communications at Johnston Community College from May 2006 to December 2019. In this role, they supervised the college’s award-winning Communications team, which is responsible for advertising, public relations, media relations, public information and recruiting. Traci also directed the creation of marketing and communication strategies for dissemination inside and outside the college including news releases, college publications, web site, social media, e-newsletter, and annual report.

Ashley has extensive experience in project management of digital and traditional media marketing campaigns from conception through implementation, including creative development, copywriting and editing, scheduling and deliverability, analytics and new campaign recommendations. Traci has also provided oversight of the college’s web site and social media presence, coordinated media interest in the college, and served as the Public Information Officer. In addition, they have served on the college's Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Committee and helped execute targeted initiatives supporting enrollment growth.

Ashley is a effective communicator with the ability to work with the college president, members of administrative council, and the board of trustees to properly position members of leadership, align messaging, and plan communication strategies. Traci has also presented to administrative council and board of trustees on marketing campaign results as requested. Lastly, they have served as a key member of the college's Emergency Preparedness and Management Team, providing communications response during emergencies.

Traci Ashley received their Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Traci then went on to receive their Master of Arts in English with a Concentration in Technical and Professional Communication from East Carolina University.

Traci Ashley reports to Laurie Clowers, VP, Communications & Marketing. They work with Matthew Burns - Digital Content Manager, Michelle Fauver - Senior Communications Coordinator, and Cathy Collins - Assistant to the VP.
