Jill Kidson has a diverse range of work experience in the publishing and marketing industries. Jill started their career as a Marketing Assistant at The Random House Group in 1997. Jill then moved on to Wunderman as an Account Executive, producing direct marketing material for blue chip brands. In 1999, they joined Penguin Books Ltd as a Marketing Officer for Puffin, where they created promotions and managed the re-launch of the website. Jill later became an Online Marketing Manager and Co-Head of Online Marketing for penguin.co.uk.
After leaving Penguin, Jill worked at the Equal Opportunities Commission as a Website & Publications Manager, where they created targeted consumer and corporate campaigns. Jill then joined Dorling Kindersley Publishing, initially as a Head of Online Marketing, where they directed the content and promotion of dk.com, resulting in increased website visitors and newsletter members. Jill also worked as a Children's Marketing Manager and a Marketing Manager (maternity cover), managing various aspects of trade sell-in and retail promotions.
Most recently, Jill worked at Walker Books as the Consumer Marketing Manager and later as the Head of Consumer Marketing. In these roles, they oversaw all aspects of consumer marketing, including creating and executing innovative consumer promotions, establishing brand partnerships, and managing campaigns for high-profile authors and illustrators. Jill also worked on debut launches and achieved sales targets.
Throughout their career, Jill has demonstrated adaptability, creativity, and strong leadership skills.
Jill Kidson attended Newcastle University from 1993 to 1996, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in English. Jill later pursued further education at Oxford Brookes University, completing a Diploma in Publishing from 1997 to 1998.
