Andrew Benson

Director For Clinical Support at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center

Andrew Benson has a diverse work experience in the medical and pharmaceutical field. Andrew started their career in 2011 as a Commander-Pharmacist in the US Navy. Andrew then worked at the Naval Medical Center San Diego as a Section Head for Outpatient & Branch Clinic Pharmacy. In 2012, they served as Assistant Head in the Pharmacy Department at the NATO Role III Hospital.

From 2014 to 2017, Andrew worked at the Office of Attending Physician, US CAPITOL, where they held the position of Head of Pharmacy. Andrew then moved to the Naval Health Clinic Quantico (NHCQ) and served as the Director of Clinical Support Services for two years.

In 2019, they joined the Defense Health Agency as the Aide-de-Camp to the Director, and later became the Chief of the Director's Action Group. Currently, Andrew is working at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center as the Deputy Director for Administration.

Andrew Benson earned a Doctor of Pharmacy - PharmD degree from the University of Rhode Island from 2005 to 2011. Andrew later pursued a Master of Business Administration - MBA degree at Auburn University from 2015 to 2017. In 2021, Andrew attended the U.S. Naval War College and completed the Naval Command and Staff Program & JPME Phase I. Andrew also holds additional certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute and is a Licensed Pharmacist certified by the Rhode Island Department of Health, obtained in 2019 and 2011 respectively.
