James Dexter

James Dexter, M.A., is an experienced law enforcement professional currently serving as the Commander for DuPage Metro SWAT since March 2023, following a tenure as Team Leader and Assistant Commander of Operations. Holding the position of Police Sergeant at Lisle Police Department since June 2014, James oversees day shift patrol supervision and tactical training. As the owner and lead instructor of Tactically Sound Training Center, LLC, James provides specialized training in firearms and medical response. Additional roles include serving as a Director on the Board of the Illinois Tactical Officers Association and previously holding a Deputy Chief position in Emergency Services at Hanover Township. A former agent with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, James has amassed extensive experience across various public safety roles, complemented by a strong academic background in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement.
