Joanna Cannon

Joanna Cannon is a seasoned professional in the field of developmental psychology and education, currently serving as Senior Program Officer and Chief Philanthropy Officer at the Walton Family Foundation since October 2016. Prior to this role, Joanna held the position of Chief Operating Officer at PENCIL, Inc. from September 2014 to September 2016. Joanna's extensive experience in the NYC Department of Education from 2007 to 2014 includes roles such as Chief Strategic Officer and Executive Director of the Office of Talent Research and Data. Earlier in Joanna’s career, experience as Education Director at the University of Chicago's Spatial Intelligence & Learning Center was gained after completing a postdoctoral fellowship in developmental psychology at the same institution. Joanna holds a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Scripps College.
