John Freek

John Freek has extensive work experience in maintenance operations and facility management. John is currently the Director of Maintenance Operations at Wangard Partners, Inc. since June 2021. Prior to this, they worked at IKEA for over 25 years, holding various roles including Operations and Facility Manager. During their tenure at IKEA, they gained progressive, multi-disciplined experience across different store locations and the corporate office. John led teams and was responsible for risk management, food services, facilities, and inventory.

John Freek attended Drexel University from 2002 to 2004, where they pursued a degree in Architecture. John completed their third year of studies in the field. Prior to that, from 1992 to 1993, they attended Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology and successfully completed the Underwater Skills Program, earning honors as a graduate. In 1986 to 1987, they enrolled at the University of Waterloo, focusing on First Year Pre-Professional Architecture as part of their Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree.

Additionally, in March 2011, John obtained the certification of Certified Facility Manager® (CFM®) from the International Facility Management Association (IFMA).
