Kasia Kieli

President & Managing Director, EMEA at Warner Bros. Discovery

Kasia Kieli is President and Managing Director for Discovery Networks Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa (CEEMEA).

Kieli has strategic management responsibility of Discovery's operations in the region, which became a standalone business in July 2010 and today encompasses 105 countries across three continents, with eleven offices in total, including: Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, London, Hungary, Czech Republic, Turkey, UAE and Egypt. In each of these markets, Discovery broadcasts up to 12 channels from a list that includes Discovery Channel HD, ID, TLC, Animal Planet and Science.

Kieli founded the Discovery office in Poland in 2000 when she joined as Regional Ad Sales Director, and in March 2003, she was appointed General Manager for Central Europe. During her 14 years at Discovery, Kieli has launched more than 12 channels across five markets. The most recent to launch, ID Poland fast became the #1 mystery and suspense channel in the market and entertainment channel, TLC, is the #1 lifestyle channel for women in many markets where it has launched including South Africa and Poland.

In November 2012, Kieli oversaw Discovery Communications' acquisition of Dubai-based media company Takhayal Entertainment and its affiliated companies in Dubai and Egypt, including its flagship TV network, Fatafeat, the #1 food network in the Middle East.

Her working career started in the commercial sales department of a local Warsaw TV station - Nowa Telewizja Warszawa, the second commercial station to launch in Poland. In 1998, she moved to digital platform Wizja TV, where she developed the advertising department that later became At Media, the first thematic channel advertising sales house in Poland.

Kieli is a graduate of the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School. She also has an MBA and degree from the University of Calgary and a degree from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana (U.S.) where she lectured for some time.
