Katherine Skipper

Studio Principal at Warren and Mahoney

Katherine spent her first three years of her architectural career with Warren and Mahoney before leaving to develop her own practice in Wellington. She re-joined the practice in 2012 and was appointed Principal in 2015. She is an experienced architect who prides herself on designing and documenting in a collaborative and engaging manner.

Katherine was appointed Branch Chair for the New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) Wellington branch from 2016 - 2019. In 2019, Katherine was the recipient of the Property Council Wellington ‘Judges’ Choice’ Award. The jury praised Katherine for her strength and effective leadership, noting she is a driver for change in the Wellington property industry.

Katherine’s method and approach as an architect is consistent and thorough throughout varied project types, resulting invariably in a positive outcome for her clients. Her philosophy is to create built environments that are elegant and considered, whilst at the same time reflect the unique requirements of the client.

Her work at the Wellington International Airport in particular has shown her ability to engage with clients and consultants alike as the complexities of designing and detailing within the environment of an operating airport are worked through. As well as Wellington International Airport she has been involved with such projects as Te Papa Tongarewa's five-year renewal, Waihinga Martinborough Community Centre, Ernst and Young (EY) Wellington office fitout, and Westpac Stadium. Katherine’s 15+ years in the industry coupled with her calm demeanour and personable nature, ensure confidence in meeting client expectations.
