Ralph Roberts

Principal at Warren and Mahoney

Ralph Roberts is a Principal at Warren and Mahoney, and leads the practice’s Wellington studio. He is a highly experienced architect, with a career spanning nearly three decades and a portfolio comprising commercial, residential, transport, workplace, sports and civic architecture.

Ralph’s interest lies in designing bespoke buildings that require specialised and unique solutions to suit each client’s requirements. He develops buildings from the inside out; first evaluating internal needs, before creating the structure that will best embody that ideal space. Through comprehensive analysis and briefing, Ralph prioritises understanding the client and their business requirements.

For Ralph, one strong single idea forms the foundation of every project. He is skilled at weaving that singular concept through an entire building, absorbing it into the fabric of built result. With a modernist, international design style, Ralph considers the space he’s creating carefully; analysing factors like light, surrounding environment, the outlook and the interior in close detail. He is interested in developing sustainable practices, and investigating opportunities for prefabrication and innovation in modern building materials.

Ralph was appointed Principal of Warren and Mahoney in 2008. His tenure at the practice has spanned more than 26 years; he joined the Wellington studio in 1987, and aside from two years with RHWL Architects, a large London-based practice, has been committed to building the long-term growth of the practice ever since.

Ralph is a registered Greenstar Practitioner.
