Associate Director For Interfaith Initiatives & Instructor Of Religious Studies at Warren Wilson College

Matthew Hoffman has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in academia, religious organizations, and education. Matthew currently works as the Assistant Director for Initiatives for Identity, Inclusion, & Belonging at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Before that, they served as the Associate Director for Interfaith Initiatives & Instructor of Religious Studies at Warren Wilson College. Matthew also had experience as a Pastoral Intern (Vicar) at St. Mark Lutheran Church & Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, where they helped run Lutheran Campus Ministry. Matthew was a Graduate Student Intern at New York University Global Spiritual Life, where they co-taught classes and organized events related to faith and social justice. Matthew's earlier work includes teaching high school social studies and serving as a Corps Member for Teach for America. Matthew also held positions as an Intern at LSU Office for Student Advocacy, DePaul University, and Miami University Office of Residence Life. Additionally, they served as the Secretary for Academic Affairs in the Miami University Associated Student Government. Throughout their career, Matthew has demonstrated a commitment to education, faith-based initiatives, and promoting inclusivity and diversity.

Matthew Hoffman obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies & Political Science from Miami University in 2010. In 2011, they received a Teaching Certificate in Secondary Social Studies Education from The Louisiana Practitioner Teacher Program, The New Teacher Project. From 2012 to 2015, Matthew pursued a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree in Interreligious Engagement at Union Theological Seminary. Matthew then went on to complete a Master of Sacred Theology (STM) degree in Lutheran Studies & Interreligious Engagement from Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, from 2015 to 2017. Matthew also received 1 Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education from the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City in 2014. Additionally, they hold a Level 1 High School Social Studies Teaching Certification from the Louisiana Board of Education.
