Leo Laakso

Leo Laakso is an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in mechanical engineering, specializing in product design and project management within the maritime and power generation sectors. Currently serving as General Manager of Engines Product Design at Wärtsilä since May 2005, Leo has held various roles including Senior Project Manager, Chief Design Engineer, Design Manager, and Product Engineer, where responsibilities included managing large 4-stroke product development projects and creating technical proposals. Leo's career began at Wärtsilä in 1996, with earlier experience as a Product Development Engineer at Deltamarin Oy, and a Master thesis on remote service capabilities at Fortum. Educational credentials include a Master's degree and Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Teknillinen korkeakoulu and Turku University of Applied Sciences, respectively.
