Yewon Shin is an undergraduate at Washington and Lee University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with a minor in Philosophy. Currently, Yewon serves as an Undergraduate Research Assistant under Dr. Helen I’Anson in the Department of Biology, researching childhood snacking's impact on obesity and metabolic syndrome in a female rat model while leading a team of summer undergraduate researchers. Yewon's leadership extends to the role of Head Career Fellow, overseeing 35 Career Fellows to enhance university career services, and as Head Resident Advisor, managing 13 RAs and supporting 300 residents. Additional experience includes a position as a Medical Assistant at New Light Medical Group, where Yewon managed patient documentation and care, a Program Advisor role for incoming first-year students at the Advanced Immersion and Mentoring program, and customer service positions at Ding Tea and SOMISOMI. Yewon has also been the recipient of a 2-Year STEM Fellowship to support ongoing research efforts.
