Zurie Pope is an emerging journalist with extensive experience in various writing roles and internships. Currently a News Intern at Cincinnati CityBeat since August 2024, Zurie has also been a Freelance Writer for the Washington Blade since January 2023, focusing on issues affecting the LGBTQ community. As a member of the New York Times Corps since September 2022, Zurie engages in career-building activities with seasoned reporters. Additional contributions include reporting at The Ohio Capital Journal and The News Record, where Zurie has taken on roles as both a staff reporter and an investigative reporter. Other notable positions include Co-Founder and Director of Critical Writing at Auteur Magazine, Writing Fellow at The Nation, and former Reporting Intern at the Cincinnati Enquirer. Zurie's educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Cincinnati and an Associate degree in English Language and Literature from Edison State Community College.
