Brian Bockting has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and industries. From 1986 to 1991, they served in the US Army as a Cavalry Scout. Brian then worked at Great River Medical Center from 1996 to 2000 as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, where they supervised a team and managed laboratory supplies. From 2001 to 2018, they served as the Laboratory Director at Henry County Health Center. In 2018, they joined Washington County Hospital and Clinics as the Director of Laboratory Services, and later became the Director of Lab and Rehab Services in 2019. Additionally, since 2012, they have been a Bassist at Faith Christian Outreach Church.

Brian Bockting's education history begins in 1983 when they attended Cole R-V, but it is unknown whether they obtained a degree or studied a specific field during this time. From 1990 to 1992, they attended Southeastern Community College and earned an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in General Studies. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology/Technologist from the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, completing their studies in 1994.
