Rachel Lesniak

Director, Special Projects, Operations at Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority

Rachel Lesniak has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Rachel began their career as a Sales Associate at Spin Doctor Cyclewerks Inc in 2011, and later worked as a Legal Intern at the Law Offices of Shirley Sadjadi. In 2013, Rachel interned at the League of American Bicyclists as part of the Bicycle-Friendly America Program.

In 2014, they joined Hogan Lovells as a Conflicts Analyst and eventually became a Conflicts Analyst Assistant. Rachel then worked as an Operations Team Intern at the Department of Justice in 2013.

From 2016 to 2019, Rachel worked at Foursquare Integrated Transportation Planning as a Transportation Planning Intern, Transportation Analyst, and Transportation Planner.

In 2019, they joined the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) as a Data Practice Lead and Sr. Analyst in the Strategic Initiatives team. Rachel later became a Program Manager in the Office of Business Transformation, focusing on Bus Priority.

Rachel then transitioned to the role of Manager, Engagement and Performance at the Rail Operations Control Center (ROCC) before being promoted to Program Manager in the same department. Rachel led the ROCC Transformation Team, implementing change management strategies and advising on program and policy issues.

Most recently, Rachel served as the Director of Special Projects, Operations at WMATA, where they advised the Chief Operations Officer and managed operations staff augmentation contracts.

Throughout their career, Rachel has demonstrated expertise in project management, change management, data analysis, and communication.

Rachel Lesniak obtained a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Georgetown University, graduating in 2018. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's Degree in English and Spanish at The George Washington University from 2010 to 2014. Additionally, Rachel has obtained certifications including Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from Purdue University and Prosci Certified Change Practitioner from Prosci in 2019.
