Desney Tan

Desney Tan is a corporate vice president and managing director at Microsoft Research, overseeing a global organization focused on scientific innovation and human impact. With a diverse portfolio that includes work in artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, and systems infrastructure, Desney has held various leadership roles at Microsoft, including managing director of Microsoft Health Futures and Microsoft Healthcare. In addition to a significant tenure at Microsoft, Desney serves on the boards of ResMed and the Washington Research Foundation, and as a strategic advisor to Immortal Studios and Proprio Vision. As a co-founder and managing partner at 42Five Holdings, Desney engages in multifamily real estate investment, while also supporting entrepreneurs as a senior advisor at IntuitiveX and an angel investor through the Alliance of Angels and Jason Calacanis Syndicate. Desney holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, with a distinguished academic background including being valedictorian in high school.
