Joseph Wayland is Executive Vice president and General Counsel of property and casualty insurance company Chubb Limited. Earlier in his career, Mr. Wayland was a partner with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and served in the United States Department of Justice, first as deputy assistant attorney general for the Antitrust Division, and later as the acting assistant attorney general in charge of the division. He also served as a Captain in the United States Air Force. In addition to his leadership on the Board of Trustees, Mr. Wayland serves on the Arts & Sciences National Council. He is a recipient of the Arts & Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award (2017). He also is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Wayland earned a Juris Doctor from Columbia University, a Master of Laws in international and comparative law from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Washington University.
