Bisrat Alemu has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Starting in 1988, they worked as a Plan and Budget Expert at the Bureau of Natural Resource Development & Environmental Protection and the Bureau of Agriculture until 1995. From 1997 to 2004, Bisrat served as the Head & Program Specialist in the Planning & Programming Service of the Commission for Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Rehabilitation in Amhara Region. Following this, from 2004 to 2006, they worked as a Regional Coordinator for CIDA - Regional Administration Support Program. In 2006, Bisrat joined AAI Ethiopia as a Regional Coordinator for the North Region Coordination Office, and in 2008, they became the Fundraising Manager at ActionAid International Ethiopia (AAI-E). From 2013 to 2017, Bisrat held multiple roles at ActionAid International, including Donor Coordinator for Major Trusts & Foundations and Regional Partnership Coordinator for the Horn and East Africa region. In 2017, they became the Business Development Manager for East and West Africa at SOS SAHEL International France. Bisrat's most recent position is as the Regional Business Development Manager for the East Africa Region at WaterAid, which they have held since 2019. Throughout their career, Bisrat has demonstrated expertise in various areas, including business development, fundraising, grant management, donor relationship building, and contract management.
Bisrat Alemu has a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Agricultural Economics, which was completed from AUA, G.K.V.K Campus in Bangalore, India from 1998 to 2000. In 2017, Bisrat Alemu pursued several certificate programs from PM4DEV in Washington DC, USA. These certificate programs include Fundamentals of Project Management for Development Organizations, Project Design, Monitoring & Evaluation Development Organizations, Development Project Management, and Effective Project Management.
