Rajeev V. Date serves as a Strategic Advisor to Waterfield Group & The Waterfield Family of Companies. Mr. Date became the leader of the United States Consumer Financial Protection Bureau & Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury following now Senator Elizabeth Warren’s departure on August 1, 2011. He had previously served as the first ever Deputy Director of the Bureau and is generally credited with guiding the Bureau’s early strategic, operational, and policy initiatives.
Prior to joining the Bureau, he worked in mergers & acquisitions at Capital One and Deutsche Bank. He left the banking industry in 2009 to start the Cambridge Winter Center, a nonprofit think tank devoted to promoting the regulation of financial firms.
Mr. Date, an accomplished author and speaker, has been heralded as one of the most effective consumer advocates in the nation. He has authored widely distributed articles addressing Wall Street pay practices, the shadow banking system, and abusive auto lending, among others.
Mr. Date graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and Harvard Law School.[
