Anthony Spurgetis has a diverse work experience in human resources and workforce development. Anthony is currently employed as the Chief Human Resources and Equity Officer at Waterloo Community School District. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Human Resources at Johnston Community School District from 2019 to 2022 and at Marshalltown Community School District from 2016 to 2019. Before joining the education sector, Anthony worked as a Human Resource Generalist at Des Moines Public Schools from 2014 to 2016 and as a Human Resource Specialist at Cedar Rapids Community School District from 2012 to 2014. Anthony started their career as a Human Resource Assistant at City Carton Recycling from 2010 to 2012. Additionally, Anthony gained experience in workforce development and customer services during their time at ACT, where they worked as a Specialist II Workforce Development from 2008 to 2010 and as a Clerk II Customer Services from 2006 to 2008.

Anthony Spurgetis holds a Master of Professional Studies degree in Human Resources and Employment Relations from Penn State University, which they obtained from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, they completed a Certificate in Human Resource Management from Kirkwood Community College in 2009. Anthony also holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Iowa, which they completed in 2007. Anthony Spurgetis completed their high school education at Rock Island High School in 2002.

In addition to their educational background, Anthony Spurgetis has obtained various certifications in the field of human resources. Anthony became a Professional Human Capital Leader in Education Certified by the Experience Management Institute in April 2021. Anthony earned the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification from SHRM in January 2015.
