Matthijs de Graaf currently serves as Gebiedsbeheerder at Waterschap Drents Overijsselse Delta since January 2020, managing areas that include the municipalities of Steenwijkerland, which contains the national park Weerribben-Wieden, and Meppel. Prior to this role, Matthijs took a sabbatical as a full-time trekkerchauffeur at Verhuur- en Aannemingsbedrijf P. Vos B.V. from February to December 2019. Matthijs built extensive experience at Nuon from September 2004 to February 2019, where responsibilities included Projectmanager for Nuon Warmte, overseeing the construction and large-scale reconstruction of heat transport and distribution systems, and earlier roles as Engineer and Werkvoorbereider in the same department. Matthijs holds a Bachelor of Engineering in General Operational Technology from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (2000-2004) and completed earlier education at ROC Leiden (1996-2000) and Yuverta mavo Aalsmeer (1993-1996).
