Grace Garey

Board Member at Watsi

Grace Garey is a social entrepreneur and technology executive who is currently a Board Member at Watsi.

Garey has over eight years of experience in the social sector, including four years as a Cofounder and COO of Meso, an open source technology platform for administering health coverage that was born out of Watsi and is now used to manage coverage for more than 200,000 patients across East Africa.

In their previous role as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Lightning Lab, a New Zealand government backed startup incubator, they coached founders participating in the program on everything from early user research and product testing to fundraising and team building. Grace also consulted with the program’s leadership on a strategy to embrace the community-oriented instincts of local founders, and support them in focusing on impact and sustainability alongside growth and scale.

Garey has also worked as a Marketing and Development Manager at Breakthrough New York, and as a Socio-Economic Empowerment Fellow at Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement.

Grace Garey's educational career includes a Bachelor of Arts from UC Santa Barbara, a certification from UC Davis in coaching practices, and a degree from the University of Ghana in African politics, socioeconomics, post-conflict peacebuilding and transitional justice.
