Hannah Smith

Hannah Smith has a diverse range of work experience. Hannah is currently the Head 8/9 Drama Director at Prairieview School in the Waukee Community School District, where they direct the spring play and oversees 60 students in the drama department. Hannah also serves as the Head 6th Grade Drama Director at South Middle School, directing the 6th Grade Winter Play and managing 100 students. Additionally, they work as an Education Associate in the Waukee Community School District, providing support to 8th and 9th grade Special Education students in various areas and collaborating with teachers and staff for their well-being and education.

Prior to their current roles, Hannah worked at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, where they served as an Education Assistant, designing and teaching lesson plans to enrich the theater experience for visiting students. Hannah was also a Kaleidoscope Educator, engaging students of all grade levels in theater etiquette and follow-up activities. Additionally, they held the position of Tech Office Manager and Student Stagehand Supervisor, managing stagehands and assisting with logistical and technical needs for touring shows and university events.

Hannah has also gained experience through internships. Hannah was a Summer Theater Education Intern at The Rose Theater Omaha, where they contributed to theater education programs. Hannah also worked as a General Management Intern at the Corkscrew Theater Festival, assisting with various management tasks.

Early in their career, Hannah worked as a Co-Op Student in the Waterloo Community School District.

With a combination of teaching, managerial, and support roles, Hannah Smith has developed a strong background in theater education and special education.

Hannah Smith attended Waterloo West High School from 2013 to 2017. Hannah then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama and Theatre for Youth at the University of Northern Iowa, where they studied from 2017 to 2021.
