Silicia is a Senior Associate in our health practice. Prior to joining Waxman Strategies, Silicia served as a research coordinator in the Communication Neuroscience Laboratory. In this role she coordinated a multi-million dollar longitudinal project funded by the Department of Defense to understand human resilience and social influences on health behaviors.
Her passions include advocating for health equity and increasing people’s access to services. She joined United Against Inequities in Disease, a national non-profit organization focused on addressing health disparities, in 2018 as a national board intern to develop community projects. She then transitioned into a co-director role to lead the teams of interns and chapters around the country on their community project efforts to address health inequities among marginalized communities.
Silicia also wanted to have a more impactful role in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic. She spent the past summer with the CDC Foundation and the Pennsylvania Department of Health and assisted with contact tracing and the launch of COVID Alert PA, an app to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 by using bluetooth technology to give alerts to anyone exposed to the virus.
Silicia earned her Bachelors degree in Health and Societies in 2018 followed by a Masters of Public Health in 2020 from the University of Pennsylvania. She enjoys baking and salsa dancing in her free time.
