Ivar Merilo

Co-Founder & Product Manager at Waybiller

Ivar Merilo has over a decade of work experience. Ivar began their career in 2005 as a Web Developer for Digistep LTD, where they designed, coded and managed webpages for different Estonian companies. In 2007, they worked as a Trainee in IT HR department for Swedbank, where they made a market analysis in the Baltic States and presented to the leaders of Hansabank IT in three Baltic countries. In 2008, they completed mandatory time service in the Estonian Defence Forces, where they acquired additional C, D, E-category driving license and experience in infantry, military topography and leadership. In 2009, they worked as an Estonian Sales Agent for FleuraMetz, where they expanded one of the biggest Dutch cut flower supplier to the Estonian market. In 2010, they worked as an Audit Associate for PricewaterhouseCoopers, performing audit procedures to ensure that companies' financial statements were prepared accurately and fairly. In 2011, they co-founded GateMe with their brother and step-brother, where they built up an IT team and worked out the product. In 2013, they co-founded Thorgate, a software development and design boutique with offices in London (UK), Oslo (Norway) and in Tallinn (Estonia). Ivar'srole involved UX/UI design, product development, software development and more. In 2017, they co-founded Waybiller, which helps to replace paper waybills with e-waybills. Ivar also co-founded Thorgate Ventures, the seed stage venture capital arm of Thorgate.

Ivar Merilo received a Secondary Education from Pärnu Coeducational Gymnasium from 1994 to 2006. Ivar then went on to earn a BSc in Economics and Business Administration from Rīgas Ekonomikas augstskola - Stockholm School of Economics in Riga from 2006 to 2010.
