Wanchen S. is a highly experienced Machine Learning Scientist II at Wayfair, specializing in dynamic bidding systems that have increased ad revenue by over 7%. With a background as a Data Scientist II at Berkeley Lab, Wanchen developed liquid handler robotics, improving assay efficiencies significantly, and created machine learning models achieving high accuracy in predicting enzyme-substrate interactions. As a Data Science Fellow at Insight Data Science, Wanchen designed an image-based web application for detecting plant diseases using Convolutional Neural Networks. Earlier research at the Waksman Institute of Microbiology involved uncovering mechanisms of cell fate determination and gene functions in plant systems. Wanchen holds a Master's degree in Statistics and a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Rutgers University–New Brunswick.
