Cynthia Barnes Slater has over 25 years of experience in the Human Resources field. Cynthia began their career in 1995 as a Human Resources Manager for GE Capital - Genstar & Commercial Real Estate. In 2000, they moved to NBC Internet as the Senior Acquisition HR Manager and then to Skills Training International as the Managing Principal. From 2004 to 2015, they were the Director of Human Resources for University Relations at the University of California, Berkeley. Cynthia was also a Board Member and Volunteer at the Community Alliance for Learning from 2011 to 2015. From 2015 to 2017, they were the Recruitment Manager at the Baha'i National Center and then moved to Western Independent Films, LLC in New York as an Associate Producer. In 2021, they became the Head of Human Resources at Wayfarer Studios and the Board Treasurer at The Wayfarer Foundation. Cynthia has also served as an Assessor for the UC Davis Management Skills Assessment Program.
Cynthia Barnes Slater began their educational journey in 1970 when they obtained their Bachelor's degree in Government from Cornell University. Cynthia then went on to pursue a Diploma in Training Management & Organizational Development from London South Bank University between 1988 and 1989. In 2007, they completed a SPHR Certification Class 2007 and obtained their Senior Professional Human Resources certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute in June 2011. Finally, they attended UC Berkeley Extension between 2012 and 2013 to study Human Resources Management and Services.
