Akelah Reese

Akelah Reese is an experienced education professional currently serving as the Assistant Director in the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement at Wayne State University since June 2018, also fulfilling roles as Coordinator for Instructional Support for APEX Scholars and Academic Advisor. Prior to this, Akelah worked as a Graduate Assistant Academic Advisor at Eastern Michigan University and as a Success Coach at Washtenaw Community College, where support for first-year students was emphasized. Previous experience includes positions as a Graduate Assistant in the EDGE program at Eastern Michigan University, Youth Career Advisor/Case Manager with Michigan Works! Southeast, and an Americorps Member with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Akelah holds a Doctor of Education degree in progress at Wayne State University, a Master of Arts in Higher Education - Student Affairs from Eastern Michigan University, and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work also from Eastern Michigan University.
