Naren Kumar has a diverse work experience spanning several years. Naren most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer MEO at Wayne State University starting in April 2023. Prior to that, they held the role of Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine from 2019 to April 2023.
From 2012 to 2019, Naren worked at Beaumont Health, first as the Vice President for Rehab & Support Services, where they had executive responsibility for multiple departments and oversaw a $160 million facility expansion project. Naren then became the Director of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, managing various rehabilitation programs and a team of 100 employees.
Before Beaumont Health, Naren worked as the Director of Rehabilitation Therapies & Sports Medicine at Garden City Hospital, implementing lean principles and improving billing processes. Prior to that, they were the Manager of Therapy Services at Botsford Hospital, where they increased productivity, streamlined management processes, and developed new programs.
Naren also has international work experience, having worked as a Senior II Physiotherapist at Basildon and Thurrock Hospital NHS in the United Kingdom. Naren began their career as the Incharge Physiotherapist for Cardiac Rehab at Apollo Hospitals in 2000.

Naren Kumar earned a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree from Dr. M.G.R Medical University in the years 1995 to 1999. Naren then completed a Doctor of Physical Therapy program at A.T. Still University of Health Sciences from 2008 to 2011. Finally, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree with a focus on Health/Health Care Administration/Management/General Management from the University of Michigan from 2013 to 2015.
