Richard Pearson

Richard Pearson has a diverse work experience in research safety and compliance. Richard currently holds the position of Associate Director, Research Safety at Wayne State University since November 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Interim Director at the same institution from January 2022 to November 2022. From July 2015 to January 2022, they worked as the Biosafety Manager at Wayne State University. Before joining Wayne State University, they worked as a Safety and Compliance Advisor at Stanford University from January 2013 to July 2015. Richard also has experience as a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University from 2008 to 2012, where they managed an independent research project and supervised undergraduate assistants. Richard started their career as a Laboratory Technician at Rockefeller University from March 2001 to July 2002.

Richard Pearson earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Microbiology from Case Western Reserve University in 2008. Prior to that, they completed an M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology at the University of Nottingham in 2000. Richard began their educational journey by obtaining a B.Sc. in Microbiology from Aberystwyth University in 1998.
