Matthew Abbott

Matthew Abbott has been in the education field for over 20 years. Matthew began their career as a teacher in Houston, Texas. After a few years in the classroom, they became a school administrator. Matthew then worked for the Texas Charter Schools Association for three years, before becoming the CEO & Superintendent of Wayside Schools. Under their leadership, Wayside Schools has become one of the most successful charter school networks in the country.

Matthew Abbott is currently in the process of obtaining their PhD in Education from Texas State University. Matthew also has a Superintendent Certification from Texas State University and a MA in Public Policy & Public Administration from the University of York. Their undergraduate degree is in Business Administration (B.B.A.) from St. Edward's University. Matthew also has certification from the Texas Education Agency in Texas Superintendent Certification, 8-12 Composite Social Studies Teacher, and Certified TEA Trainer.
