Karl Gillis has extensive experience in the technology and IT industry. Karl started their career as a Helpdesk Analyst at Hewlett-Packard and then moved on to work as a Helpdesk Site Co-ordinator at The Department of Health & Children. Karl continued to gain experience in different roles, including Helpdesk Analyst at PwC, Deployment Engineer at AXA Corporate Solutions, and Senior System Engineer at Mansion. In 2007, they served as an IT Manager at BMW Group Ireland before joining Trilogy Technologies as a Senior Systems Engineer in 2008. Most recently, they held positions at Waystone, including Senior System Engineer and Infrastructure & Cyber Security Lead - Europe. Karl is currently serving as the Head of Technology Operations at Waystone. Throughout their career, Karl has been responsible for maintaining and improving systems across various vendors, such as Microsoft servers, NetApp SAN, VMWare, Cisco routers and switches, and Citrix Xen Desktop.

Karl Gillis attended Donahies Community School of Computing from 1998 to 2000. During this time, they earned a NCVA Level 2 & 3 degree in Information Technology, Networks & Software Systems. Karl'sfield of study focused on Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications, as well as Software Programming. Before attending Donahies Community School, Karl completed their high school education at Chanel College in Coolock Village from 1992 to 1998. Additionally, Karl obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2000, they earned the A+ Hardware Components certification from CompTIA. In 2013, Karl obtained the VMTSP certification from Veeam Software. Finally, in 2015, they became a Barracuda Web Filter Certified Engineer, certified by Barracuda.
